Shripad Bhat

Mr Shripad Bhat, Principal Technical Officer of the ICMR-National Institute of Traditional Medicine (NITM) in Belagavi, Karnataka, is interested in operational research studies. He has more than 30 years of experience in organising and conducting field studies. Earlier in his career Mr Bhat worked at the ICMR National Institute of Tuberculosis where he was involved in tuberculosis (TB) prevalence and drug resistance studies as well as clinical trials with TB and HIV-TB patients. For the past 15 years he has been working at the ICMR-NITM where his research focusses on Traditional Medicine and in particular folklore practices. Mr Bhat took the lead in establishing the School of Traditional Medicine at the Institute with the aim of bringing together different stakeholders like folk healers, scientists and clinicians to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, and also to evaluate selected folk practices scientifically. Mr Bhat will be assisting the PI in KFD project in its smooth execution and also organize data collections from relevant stakeholders from the community.
