Research Interests
Dr Chanda is a research scientist at the ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics (NIVEDI) in Bengaluru, Karnataka. A veterinarian and epidemiologist by training, he has field experience in successfully implementing livestock health-related schemes. During his PhD under a joint Indo-UK collaboration project on bluetongue, a midge-borne viral livestock disease, Dr Chanda gained expertise in GIS, species distribution modelling and in the application of remote sensed variables in disease mapping. His research at NIVEDI includes the development of novel statistical methods in understanding the epidemiology of various livestock diseases (haemorrhagic septicaemia, PRRSV, bluetongue, and anthrax) in India.
