Research Interests

France is a senior scientist at the NERC Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. She has more than 20 years of experience in remote sensing working on the retrieval of forest parameters from optical sensors, remote sensing of land and vegetation cover, and characterising vegetation dynamics and phenology in a wide range of environments (boreal, and sub-tropical forests, temperate and semi-arid grasslands). Her work focuses on the development of RS-derived data to constrain and validate models, support process understanding and monitor vegetation. She is currently investigating habitat condition monitoring using drone hyperspectral technology and the use of radar time-series to monitor vegetation phenology.
